I am beginning to think that bird droppings had some household use. So very many genre paintings of interiors feature them. I could see pet birds in a genteel interior, but I’m seeing birdcages in kitchens and workshops. Anyone know what’s up?

The ornament on the brim of the boys hat is interesting
