Wonderful web site and images. Found just the information I was looking for! I wanted to know two things: one, if prints or paintings were hung over fireplaces in 17th century homes of modest means, and two, if they were ever hung over fireplaces used for cooking. Visual documentation says “yes” to both. My thanks!
