Peter Jakob Horemans ( 1700 – 1776 )
OK, maybe you can help on this one. I didn’t have time to pour over the name and figure it out exactly – any ideas? (Thanks to Pam Williams) , yes if you see his other pieces on the blog there is a definite similarity.
Detail: innkeeper, food, chair, chicken, glass mug, table cloth, knife, bread, pewter mug, can, keys, bill of fare, candle stick, jug with lid, mug with lid, Canadian cap, window
He is also sitting in front of a nook or cabinet bed – see the small curtained window?
I think it is a booth that is the “bar” for serving drinks.
I’d sorta concur…after all it is “Portrait of a Host.”
A glass tankard–that really surprised me. It looks so very modern, and yet it isn’t, obviously. I also appreciate the slightly bowed candle–gee, now I don’t feel so bad when mine come out like that!
I have no idea who painted this but love the picture. It looks like the guys who man our tavern at Fort Watauga during musters. Love the details in this painting!

Yep, you got it… Thanks!
